From the laboratory to the track: scientific evidence of the benefits of Fartlek

The present work entitled "From the Laboratory to the Track: Scientific Evidence of the Benefits of Fartlek Training" seeks to highlight the benefits provided by this type of training in the periodization of running. Through a careful and comprehensive literature review, we aim to collect and present the main scientific evidence that elucidates and justifies the effectiveness of Fartlek training for runners. Fartlek, a Swedish training method that combines aerobic and anaerobic exercise, has been widely used by runners around the world. The question that guides this research is: How important is it and what are the benefits of fartlek training in running periodization? The methodology adopted involved an extensive search in scientific databases to identify relevant studies that answer the proposed research question. The analysis of these studies will highlight the main results obtained in the performance of runners who applied Fartlek training in their routines. It is hoped that this work can contribute to the understanding of the benefits of the Fartlek method on the physical performance of runners, providing support for health and sports professionals, in addition to the practitioners themselves. In this way, the existing literature on this type of training can be better explored and applied in a practical context.
